This drinking horn is carved with the Vegvisir, an Icelandic symbol meaning "That Which Shows the Way," recorded in the 19th-century Huld Manuscript, which holds that a person carrying the sign will never lose their way through storms or bad weather, even on an unknown path. The design on the front resembles a compass ringed by a circle and a dot pattern, with a criss-cross pattern etched around the rim as a finished border.
Each horn is 100% natural and hand-polished inside and out for a smooth, shiny finish, a traditional Norse vessel modeled after those used in mead halls and sagas of the Viking Age. Sizes range from approximately 13 to 15 inches, and because no two naturally occurring horns are alike, colors and shapes vary from piece to piece.
